Missing Man Seen On Trail Cam
Police in Vernon and La Crosse counties are continuing to search for a 74 year old man from Mexico, who went missing while on a visit to a religious shrine on October 12th. Goudensio Gayton was reported missing by his family when they were visiting the Our Lady of Guadalupe shrine near La Crosse, after he became separated from the family.
Vernon County has also joined the search. A town of Hamburg resident in Vernon County called the Sheriff's Office on Saturday, after seeing pictures of Gayton on one of his game cameras he set up along a wood line a mile from his home. The photos were taken six days earlier, on the day Gayton was reported missing.
Gayton was last seen wearing dress shoes, blue pants, a black leather jacket and a white cowboy hat. He is 5 feet tall, gray hair and speaks no English. If you see Gayton, contact the Vernon County Sheriff's Office, 608-637-2123
Another Shot at Veto Override Not Likely
The DNR secretary appointment issue is dead for now. La Crosse state rep, Jennifer Shilling doesn't expect lawmakers to give another shot at overriding governor Doyle's veto of a bill to restore DNR secretary appointment authority to the state's natural resources board. Shilling was among those who voted to override in yesterday's failed attempt. Says she's not necessarily angry at the governor for his veto. Shilling tells us that she understands how the governor's perspective may have changed on the issue from supporting the change for several years to abruptly changing his mind last spring.
The assembly override attempt fell six votes short of the two-thirds needed to be successful.
