Thief, Not A Killer: Defense Description Of Lepsch
Somebody killed two people at a La Crosse camera shop...but Jeff Lepsch didn't do it.
That's the defense argument being made today, at the start of Lepsch's trial for the shooting deaths of Paul and A.J. Petras of La Crosse. Defense attorney Vincent Rust says police didn't find anything at Lepsch's home which would prove he was connected to the murders. Rust says Lepsch was always looking for photo equipment to sell, but he never tried looking at May's Photo, where the murders occurred. Prosecutors say stolen goods from the store were found at Lepsch's home.

Lepsch Murder Trial Begins Tuesday
La Crosse's second murder trial in just over a month begins Tuesday.
A jury will be chosen for the two-week trial of Jeffrey Lepsch of Dakota...accused of killing a La Crosse camera shop owner and his son during a robbery. The murders of Paul and A-J Petras occurred days before Ron Tischer became La Crosse's new police chief last fall. Tischer mentioned the investigation at his swearing-in.
Lepsch was arrested a few weeks later. Last month, a La Crosse County jury convicted Cain Moss of reckless homicide for supplying a fatal dose of drugs to Anthony DuCharme.
