Jane Doe Murder From 1984 Gets Another Look In Vernon Co.
Twenty-eight years ago Friday, a woman's mutilated body was dumped along a highway in Vernon County...
Since then, nobody has been arrested for the woman's murder...mainly because police still can't figure out who the victim was. On this anniversary, state and local law enforcers are highlighting the Jane Doe case again. Vernon County Sheriff John Spears hopes to get information about the woman out to as many people as possible, through the news media and the internet, because it could, in his words, 'make a light go off.'
None of the potential clues to Jane Doe's identity has ever panned out. Her hands had been cut off, and even numbers printed inside the woman's dentures did not lead to an I-D.
