November 10th of 1998......60-mile-an-hour winds blew constantly for 12 hours – and 50-mile-an-hour gusts were hit after that. The result......4 were killed and six others were injured around the state.

An 87-year-old man was killed that day in West Allis when he yanked open a door and fell head-first on his porch. The winds of '98 also killed a 67-year-old woman in Door County – a 50-year-old woman in Columbia County – and a 16-year-old boy in Kenosha County. Six others were injured around the state.

Friday night police raids on the home and business of a candidate for the St. Charles City Council turned up over $85 thousand worth of high grade marijuana, cash and firearms.

Winona County Sheriff Dave Brand said officers executing search warrants on 52 year old Stephen Conlin of St. Charles discovered seven marijuana plants in a grow-room in Conlin's home, 61 plants drying in a utility shed and 17 1/2 pounds of processed marijuana. Additional marijuana plants were seized from his business in St. Charles. Police also grabbed a half a dozen guns and over $1000 in cash.

Conlin will be on the ballot November 2nd.

The case has been referred to the Winona County Attorney.
