How Will Wisconsin's Agriculture Cliimate Be
(AP) Agriculture experts say the biggest wildcard in predicting Wisconsin's crop production this year is moisture.
Last year's drought was severe enough that most fruit and vegetable crops were hit hard. The crops that fared well were largely those that could tap into water reserves deep in the soil.
This year those water reserves are partially depleted, and it would take about 12 inches of rain statewide to replenish them. Less rain could also be adequate, but even so crop experts say they're straining to find reasons for optimism.
Rainfall was below average in November, and December through February are traditionally Wisconsin's three least rainy months.
Experts at an agricultural forum in Madison said Wednesday the crops at greatest risk from another prolonged drought are corn and soybeans.

Oktoberfest Medallion Finder Also Triumphs In Rec Fest Search
The prize was in front of the La Crosse public library, but it took a week before anybody found it...
Now, the La Crosse Winter Rec-Fest Medallion has been discovered by Paul Hoch of West Salem, and he claims the 500-dollar cash reward for this year. Hoch did plenty of research on the clues, before seeing the medallion in brush along Main Street on Tuesday. A clue about a 'Wisconsin profession' referred to Farmers, and several lines in the clues were quotes from famous books. The final unpublished clue mentions the library and a Main Street bush. Hoch also found the Oktoberfest medallion in 2011, and says the clues in the Rec Fest hunt were harder.
