Petty Won't Back Down, Tries To Get Shooting Case Moving Ahead

And a La Crosse County prisoner named Petty...William Petty...feels that way about being stuck in jail without a lawyer. Petty tells Judge Todd Bjerke that he'll represent himself, if it will move the case along. Bjerke is asking Petty to be patient, while the public defender's office tries to find an attorney for him. Petty was arrested last month for allegedly injuring another man by negligent use of a gun. The judge has ordered a justice sanctions review of Petty's case, to see if his 50-thousand dollar bond can be reduced.
