Cooling Center Open Again Tonight In La Crosse
An overnight cooling center will be available tonight from 7:00 pm to 7:00 am at the Salvation Army location at 223 N. 8th Street. Residents are asked to call 2-1-1 for further information. A cool place and cots are
provided. You are expected to bring bedding and personal medications. NO PETS are allowed. All visitors will be screened with a breathalyzer test. Emergency management and public health officials urge you to take steps to prevent serious illness that can result from heat, especially among vulnerable individuals such as seniors and those with chronic medical conditions. Some health conditions such as obesity, fever, dehydration, heart disease, poor circulation, sunburn and drug and alcohol use can make it harder for the body to stay cool in hot weather. For more information about extreme heat, contact your community resource line by dialing 2-1-1.

He says if you see someone else that has a flushed face.....maybe throwing up or acting strangely...you may want to get them some help right away.

2 of the biggest events at Riverfest, The Chileda Run/Walk on Saturday and tonight's Walk a MIle in Her Shoes events are both still going on as planned. Tammy Klein talks about both events.
She says they will modify the events if need be. That depends on the temps and the partcicpants in the events.
