Garbage Regulation Revisions Again on Hold in La Crosse
New garbage regulations are on hold for another two months in La Crosse. The delay comes as landlords complain to the city council that the new rules are still too restrictive and could leave them on the hook for junk their tenants leave curbside. Work on the new rules began last May in response to complaints about the piles of trash left after the spring exodus of college students in certain neighborhoods. The plan now, apparently, to refine the garbage rules in order to provoke fewer complaints from rental property owners.
Bear Seen In West Salem
A very interesting spectator showed up at the La Crosse Fairgrounds Speedway this morning....though racing does not start for 2 more weeks. A black bear was spotted roaming the grandstands inside the track, according to track Marketing Director, Dave Noelke. The 100 pound or so bear, was trapped by the hospitality area after a while, and track officials opened a gate to let it back into the wild. The DNR was called, but the bear was long gone by the time they showed up. They, along with a wildlife biologist, were tracking the bear around 12:40pm today, near Elm Street and West Ave. The West Salem High School was placed on lock down for the time being.
Local GOP Chair Comfortable With Any Challenger
At this point, it would seem republicans in Wisconsin could watch with satisfaction while democrats grapple over who to back for governor. But La Crosse county republican party chair Julian Bradley says they've got more important stuff to do than focus on democratic infighting
Bradley insists, from a strategy standpoint, it won't matter to republicans who democrats select for a nominee in next month's recall primary election.
