Promise Future Center Staffing
So after the announcment last week that La Crosse Promise Future Centers will open in August in area La Crosse School District schools........the question now is who will staff these centers and the La Crosse Promise.
Jerry Kember, former superintendent of La Crosse Public Schools, has been serving as Interim Director of La Crosse Promise and has been a driving force behind the organization since its inception. More GOP Support Then You Think
Money and a strong ground efffort...that, plain and simple, will get Governor Scott Walker over the recall hump tomorrow. RNC Chair, Reince Priebus also says, the support is not just within the Wisconsin border.
Priebus said during a news conference Friday, that it takes more then money to win an election, it takes people and that's what will help Walker defeat Tom Barrett tomorrow.
Logan's Last Teacher From The Old School Gets Musical Sendoff
The last remaining Logan High School teacher to have taught at both the 'old' Logan and the current building starts her retirement this week...
English teacher Dorina Lukins, a U-W-La Crosse graduate, says she didn't think how long she might be a teacher when she started at Logan in 1978. Lukins was given a serenade by a group of bagpipers during her last full day at the high school on Friday. The bagpipe surprise was arranged by her friend, La Crosse Public Library director Kelly Krieg-Sigman, who had won an auction to have the pipers play for a special occasion.
Walker: Expect More Recalls If Barrett Wins
A vote for Tom Barrett would be a vote for more recall elections in Wisconsin.
Governor Scott Walker makes that argument, in a final campaign swing through the La Crosse area before the Tuesday recall. Walker tells reporters at West Salem that Democrats would push for more recall elections if Barrett becomes governor. But if Walker is re-elected, that would be a call to lawmakers to change the recall law.
Although at least one person greeting Walker in West Salem wore a 'Scott Walker for President' shirt, Walker says he's not interested in seeking a higher office...because he expects to keep his current job.
Koula Trial Begins With Jury Selection
More than two years after the shooting deaths of a Barre Mills couple, their son goes on trial in La Crosse this week.
Jury selection could last all day today in the Eric Koula case. Police and prosecutors believe Koula killed his parents in May of 2010 to get money to offset debts from stock trading. Eric Koula's attorneys claim evidence at the crime scene points to professional-style murders. The trial had been scheduled for last December, but delays in processing or reporting evidence led to two postponements of the case.
