Crews Look For Apparent Bridge Jumper
Somebody may have jumped from a La Crosse bridge last night. Or they may
not have. La Crosse police says they will search this morning for
someone who may have jumped from the Cameron Street Bridge.
It started last night after someone told police that they found an empty car on the bridge and a coat was found hanging on the guardrail just beore 8. The La Crosse Fire Department and the Dive and Rescue Teams were searching the water and area until around 9:30 last night and found nothing.
They will be back at it again at 9 a.m this

La Crosse mayor Matt Harter using his veto pen is nothing new. First time the mayor vetoed a council measure was two years ago this month. But this year, the mayor began to frustrate the city council with, what they complained were, surprise vetoes. With marijuana decriminalization legislation. On a measure to ban weapons from city hall. On the city's budget for the coming year. And then the latest; a surprise veto of a firefighter position approved by the city council and conceived by a committee on which the mayor sits. Which is really what got to councilman Bob Seaquist

Johnson Pe'od At Recall Process
The state elections' agency has asked Milwaukee County prosecutors to
consider charges against a group that tells Walker recall opponents to sign
petitions as Adolf Hitler.
The group sent out fliers saying it's not illegal to sign recall petitions using Hitler's name. But Government Accountability Board director Kevin Kennedy said it is illegal to write false names on recall petitions and in the end, they won't be counted.
Tavern League Gives To UW-L
The La Crosse County Tavern League has made a donation to the UW-La Crosse Veterans Memorial Field Sports Complex for the 4th year in a row. The group of local small business owners has made a year-end gift of $2,500 to the UW-L Foundation to recognize veterans and further support the new athletic complex. Al Trapp, the President of the UW-L Foundation, says along with these gifts, the La Crosse County Tavern League supports the campus and its students in many other ways.
The gift could end up doubling.....it qualifies to be matched with $1,500 from the Tavern League of Wisconsin and $1,000 from the 3rd District Tavern League.
Cameron Street Bridge Jumper Update
Seems as though no one jumped off the Cameron Street Bridge last night though police say clues at the scene opened up a search of the waters below. Officer Avery Schott.
She says just after 7:30 this morning, the owner of the car that was left at the bridge, was found safe and is undergoing a medical evaluation. Search crews were out until 9:30 Wednesday night and were going to resume that search at 9 this morning.
