State Bank Moving Shelby Branch To Former Quillin's Block
It was a novel idea decades ago...for State Bank-La Crosse to open a branch on the far south side of the city.
But that Shelby location, south of the railroad overpass, doesn't work as well as it used to:
State Bank vice-president Wayne Oliver says the Shelby location will be moved this summer to the old Quillin's supermarket site on Mormon Coulee Road. A new Goodwill store also is scheduled to open soon on that property. Oliver expects the new State Bank location to open by July, with a remodeled drive-up lane on the lot to be ready in September.

Parking Board Votes Again To End Winter 'Test Parking' Area
They were ready to get rid of it last year...
Members of the La Crosse Parking Utility Board voted last summer to stop an experiment of sending out alerts to move cars in the winter only on nights when there was new snow to plow. The city council was persuaded to give the project one more chance. However, most of the time, the alerts were ignored...partly because of the lack of snow this winter. Once again, the parking board is calling for the 'test area' to be abolished. That means the entire city would be subject to normal alternate side parking rules five months of the year.
