Fluoride Decision Possible From Holmen Committee This Week
The village of Holmen could move another step closer this week to restoring fluoridation...
Village board members had hoped to resume the chemical treatment in the water system by April 1st, following a two-year suspension. But the board also approved a switch in the type of chemical used for preventing tooth decay. And Dean Olson in the public works office says a committee will have to decide whether a switch is worth the anticipated cost. Olson says it's definitely too late to put another fluoride referendum on the Holmen ballot for this April. That might have to wait until a scheduled election in 2014.
