Search For Missing Boater Goes On In Winona
The search for a man who fell out of a boat at Winona is expected to continue this week...
Ralph Andring went into the Mississippi near the Winona bridge on Thursday. He wasn't able to catch a life vest thrown to him by the other man in the boat. Search crews have spent three days looking for Andring, who owned a heating and air conditioning business.
Lax Will Lose Its Ash Trees, Unless You Protect Against Ash Borer
It's not too late to protect ash trees in La Crosse from the dreaded emerald ash borer...
But tree owners who do want to treat their plants with pesticide should start now. Gar Amunson, the city parks superintendent, says City Hall does not have a policy on whether to pay for chemicals, or just cut the trees down.
Amunson says if those trees in the city are not treated, they are all likely to die within five years. The ash borer was first detected in La Crosse last fall.
Tractor Flips Over On Man
A rural Kendall man is clinging to life today after being pinned by a farm tractor. It happened just before 7 last night in the Town of Wellington in Monroe County. The Sheriff says the family of a 69 year old man went looking for him after he had not retured home. They found the man pinned under a farm tractor that had flipped over. The man had to be carried out of the woods by hand by the Ontario Fire department members. He was transported to Gunderson Hospital by Med Link Air with life threatening injuries.

Bridget Pfaff , an infection specialist from Gundersen Lutheran, says people with pertussis might not know it right away, because symptoms are similar to allergies. But once you have it, you can feel effects of the illness for weeks.
Infants up to six months old can have the most severe reaction to pertussis, getting pneumonia or even dying.
Park Board Officially Cancels Sand-Sculpting Festival
The sand in the hourglass has run out for that festival of sand-sculpting along the Mississippi in La Crosse...
The city park board has granted permission for Riverfront, Incorporated to cancel its reservation of Riverside Park for three days this August. Riverfront's board recently decided to end the Sand on the Riverfront festival, citing dwindling sponsorships.
The festival ran for 10 years. Corporate-sponsored teams would spend a Friday building large sand sculptures which would remain on display through the weekend.
