Watchdog Group Calls for Political Reforms
It would only take a little political will to make monumental shifts in campaign regulations. From Wisconsin Common Cause, Jay Heck has some ideas for making needed reforms
Heck says, with legislation already written for all three reforms, it would take a matter of days to pass all three were the governor to call for a special session of the legislature.
Forensic Expert Explains Pro Killer Theory At Koula Trial
A forensic expert for the defense believes that the murders of Eric Koula's parents were the work of an 'organized do-er'...
Max Scott of Colorado does not use the term 'hit man,' but he argues that the lack of physical evidence and the skill of the shooter suggests that an experienced killer committed the murders at Barre Mills two years ago. Scott also suggests there could be two shooters, because the bullets that killed Dennis and Merna Koula may not have been from the same gun. The defense has argued throughout the trial that Eric Koula hardly ever fired guns, except to shoot at rabbits in his yard.
Harter Veteos Kwik Trip Resolution
La Crosse Mayor, Matt Harter, has notified the city council that he has vetoed a resolution approving Kwik Trip's Development Agreement. In the letter, Harter stated that it is not in the best interest of society for the government to grant subsidies to private projects. Harter says every day, in La Crosse, people go to work improving and developing. Some of these improvement and development projects are large, some are small , and not all receive subsidies or reimbursement of tax dollars. The Mayor adds that it is not in the best interest of society for our government to grant subsidies to private projects, large or small.
Koula's Alibi Is Not Shaken
Two days of questioning on the witness stand did not shake Eric Koula from his position of innocence in the shooting deaths of his parents.
During testimony on Tuesday, Koula did say that failing to tell police about signing his father's name to a 50-thousand dollar check might make him appear guilty. Prosecutor Gary Freyberg (FRY-berg) also accused Eric Koula of steering police away from the main suspect...Koula himself...by faking the threatening note which said 'Fixed You':
Koula became emotional at times on Tuesday, but mostly he challenged the prosecution's questions and repeated standard answers about his actions around the time his parents were killed.
Airport Scanners Get A Warm Welcome
New full body scanners have been in place at the La Crosse Airport for several months now. They were one of the first in the state to get the new techonology. And interim Airport manager, Clint Torp, says they offer something passengers actually like.
About 600 units have been installed in 140 airports around the country, including five airports in Wisconsin.
