Walker Working With D.A.
(AP) Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker says he voluntarily agreed to the Milwaukee County district attorney's request to meet with him about a secret investigation that so far has led to charges against five of Walker's former close aides and associates. Walker made brief comments Monday after a public appearance in Waukesha. They were among his first following an announcement Friday that he would meet with District Attorney John Chisholm. Walker said the meeting date is up to the district attorney to announce. The investigation has created a potential vulnerability for Walker, who faces a potential recall. Walker says his lawyers are examining thousands of emails his campaign has turned over to the DA. He said he hired the lawyers because it would take him too much time to do that work.
Municipal Judge Lukewarm on Combining Courts
Big changes could be coming to municipal court in the region. The city of La Crosse is poised to study combining its municipal court with Onalaska's. An idea that's actually come up in the past several months. Onalaska judge John Brinckman says, when he was first approached about the idea, he was less than impressed with the concept
Among the changes that would likely come with a combined court is going from two judges to one, and moving all cases to a single courtroom in one of the cities.
Former Pastor Accused Of Child Sex Assault
A Tomah man, who is a former pastor of the Church of God Prophecy in Necedah and now a truck driver, was in Monroe County Court this morning, facing charges of sexual assault of a child, repeated acts of sexual assault of the same child and child enticement. 64 year old Michael Delaney is accused of targeting the same victim over an extended period of time in Monroe County and throughout the country while he was a pastor and trucker. Tomah police say the year long investigation heated up in December when the now 17 year old victim's parents came to police to report the abuse. The victim was 13 and 14 when the assaults occurred and they allegedly happened for several years. Delaney pleaded guilty back in 1983 to two counts of sexual abuse while a pastor in Arizona. He'll be back in court on February 27th. He's out of jail on a $7500 signature bond.
Holmen Man Still Deciding on Congressional Try
Bruce Evers says he hasn't quite made up his mind yet. But the Holmen businessman is close to deciding on making another run for congress as a republican in Wisconsin's third congressional district. Two years ago, he came in a distant second to Dan Kapanke in a primary for the seat. Not tremendously surprising
Evers would join former Fort McCoy garrision commander Ray Boland as republicans in the race to take on democrat Ron Kind.
Former Monroe County Employee Charged With Sexual Assault
A Sparta man who was the coordinator of the Monroe County Community Service Work Program made an appearance in a Monroe County courtroom this morning after being charged with sexually assaulting two inmates. 28 year old Adam Helgerson was charged with with felony misconduct in office, false imprisonment, third-degree sexual assault and six counts of fourth-degree sexual assault.
