Meeting Set for Advisory Referendum Veto Override Attempt
A decision reached today on when a La Crosse city council meeting will be held to overturn Mayor Matt Harter's latest vetoes. On Tuesday the council will go for the override on Harter's vetoes of three advisory referendum questions, a move which would keep them from the spring ballot. The council has to overturn by Tuesday in order to get those questions on the ballot. The referendum questions involve billboards and city council size. Among other reasons, Harter says he vetoed the referendum questions because voters have enough to consider with a binding referendum on a city administrator already at the polls.
County To Help Fund I-90 Exit 3 Study
The La Crosse County Board will spend $5000 towards a study of the I-90 Exit 3 corridor, but not every one on the board agreed with the plan. Gerald Sebranek was one of the 6 no votes and explained to the board......he was voting on behalf of his constituents.
The board passed the measure on a 23-6 vote. They join the City of La Crosse and the La Crosse Area Planning Committee in contributing the $49 thousand needed for the study.....which will begin next month.
