Fiery, Cheesy Mess On I-90
They were all a result of a truck crash on I-90 in Winona County this morning. A semi carrying a load of cheese crossed the median and partly went over a bridge, shortly after 6:30 a-m. The driver of the semi...Glen Boyer of Le Mars, Iowa...had minor injuries after the accident. The fiery crash caused the Minnesota State Patrol to shut down most of the traffic on I-90 for a couple of hours.
More Drunks Than Justin This Week-end
Justin Hoard wasn't the only guy drunk and stumbling this week-end. Hoard was the 22 year-old guy La Crosse cops went on a wild goose chase for after his friends declared him suspiciously missing after he'd been gone for a couple of hours early Saturday morning. They found him, later that morning, passed out in a car, still drunk. But police also had to deal with numerous others who could have wound up in much the same shape. Like the UW Madison student cops found in Riverside Park; drunk, disoriented, separated from friends, no idea where he was. He collected a public intoxication warning and a ticket for being in the park after hours.
Grandson Leads Robbery, Home Invasion
When three young men were done with a 75 year old southside woman this week-end, she had bruises on her knees and bruises on her fingers and a desperate feeling of insecurity, fear, and betrayal. La Crosse cops say the woman's own grandson led two other punks to her house, directing them to a safe, jewelry, keys to her car and her television. They took it all and roughed her up in the process, even bruising her fingers while they ripped off her rings. The woman escaped to a neighbor's house and called cops who were there in seconds. Cops say the grandson, Jonathan Anderson, was trying to sell some of the stuff the next day. He's got a bit of a drug problem, apparently. Anderson, 21 year-old Jeffrey Flores, and a 16 year-old all faces numerous charges.
Reasons For Car Thievery
Why would you steal a car?
Ask that question after this week-end in La Crosse, you might get a variety of answers. After the armed robbery at a 75 year-old woman's house on the southside, it was pretty clear the thugs that roughed her up and gave her bruises on her fingers where they pulled her rings off stole her new Toyota because it was a pretty nice ride and they just needed to get away. The 16 year-old Central student who stole a car said he did it because he didn't have a license. And the guy who stole a running SUV out of a parking ramp while its owner was trying to help out a friend in a fight: that drunken car thief told cops, he just wanted to get in trouble. Mission accomplished.
