Victim Remarks About Money May Be Heard At Koula Murder Trial
Was Dennis Koula planning to stop giving money to his children, just before he was murdered last year?
A statement by Koula about being 'done giving to the kids' can be introduced as evidence at the murder trial of his son, Eric. Judge Scott Horne says he'll instruct the jury at trial that the statement can be viewed as showing Dennis's state of mind. But Horne says it can't be used to establish a possible motive for the murders of Dennis and his wife, Merna.
Investigators believe Eric Koula shot his parents to get money, after going into debt trading stocks. He had received a million dollars from his father in the months before the murders.

Ramp Under Budget and In Use but Still Unfinished
The parking ramp has a name. Cars have been using the new ramp in downtown La Crosse for weeks. The city's parking utility board is having talks about how to charge for parking in the new Riverside ramp. But the ramp isn't officially finished yet. The city's public works department says the new ramp, mostly complete since August, still has a few things that need to be finished before it can be considered 'done.' Until that, the city won't turn over a check for the ramp. Final price on the ramp is still not completely set, but it was built at about a half million dollars under budget.
