Local Drug Task Force To Work With Less Funding
In calendar year 2010, Drug Task Forces in Wisconsin initiated over 1500 new investigations and out of those, hundreds of arrests and prosecutions have taken place. But to do all that you need funding. The Western Wisconsin Drug Task Force, which covers 5 local counties and 17 agencies, will recieve over $36 thousand in funding this year.....but according to Jeff Wolf, it's a huge cut from years past.
Wisconsin's 18 Drug Task Forces cover 56 of the state's 72 counties, and eight of Wisconsin's 11 tribes. They will all share in over $1 million in federal funding this year.
Council to Vote on Possible Billboard Referendum
Multiple referendums could face La Crosse voters in April. One will ask whether the city should have a top administrator. But three advisory referendum questions could get approval this week by the city council. With all of them focused on billboards

What's At Stake For Sparta Voters
When people vote on a school referendum, do they really know the financial state of that district? Sparta School Superintendent, John Hendricks, says they will hold 4 forums before a February 21st referendum, which asks for $750 thousand a year for three years.
The referendum won't raise local property taxes.....it would be a continuation of the current revenue formula...passed by voters in 2007.
Vote Near on Adding Park Land in City
It's a turning point for a big piece of La Crosse land this week. The city council votes on whether to turn 160 acres of blufftop conservation land into a city park. If they make that decision, the land is forever off limits to development. But it stays a unique recreational tourist draw, argues outdoor activist and businessman, Marvin Wanders. And that's money in the bank for the city
The city purchased the land from the UW system nearly fifty years ago with the understanding it would always be accessible to the public.
