Billings Wins 95th In A Landslide
It started with a special election that was called after Democrat Jennifer Shilling won a recall election for the 32nd State Senate seat over Republican Dan Kapanke. And it ends with Jill BIllings. She defeated Dave Drewes last night by over 3700 votes. And Billings says she grateful to all the voters who supported her and agreed with her campaign.
Record Amount Of Drugs Collected
It’s obvious from the results that this is a needed program......the words from Onalaska Police Officer Jason Jobe as he summed last weekend's drug drop off program which was held at 3 different sites in the area. A record 1200 pounds of medications and controlled substances were dropped over.......some coming in zip lock freezer baggies. But Jobe says that was nothing.
Some School Districts Victorious At The Polls Tuesday
Voters denied an almost $24 million measure in Arcadia Tuesday...money that would have gone to replace an elementary school that is almost 100 years old. The measure was voted down by a 741-546 margin.
The Independence School District narrowly passed a school operating referendum Tuesday, the result was 252 yes votes to 232 no votes. The referendum allows the district to exceed state revenue limits by $250 thousand a year for five years. This is the second vote on the measure in less then 9 months....as it was voted down in February.
Shilling Says Session Grade Was An Incomplete
Did the Governor's special sesion on jobs really focus on jobs? Not to State Senator, Jennifer Shilling.
And for that she gives a grade of incomplete to the special session. No word yet if Governor Scott Walker will call for another special session in December.
