Police Say Drunk Driver Also Texting
Among the many drunk drivers collared by La Crosse police this week-end, 28 year-old Richard Roiz may have had some additional obstacles to overcome. Cops say they witnessed Roiz flying down South avenue in his black Crown Vic early Saturday morning. And then watched him hammer a traffic sign up on a median and then keep on driving. They say Roiz blew a .22. But he says he drove up over the median, slammed into the sign, and blew out his front tire because he was texting. So he got a ticket for that, too.
GET Coach And Teacher Enters One Plea In Dry Ice Injury Case
In Trempealeau County Court today, a plea of 'not guilty' from a girls' basketball coach who's charged with causing injury to his players while showing them a science experiment.
Brady Olson has entered that plea on a misdemeanor charge of disorderly conduct. He could enter a plea to physical abuse of a child during his preliminary hearing, set for April 10th. Olson is the science teacher and coach from Gale-Ettrick-Trempealeau who's been charged with causing burns on the legs of his middle-school team members. At least one girl on the team says Olson placed dry ice on their skin to show what the frozen chemical is like.
Police Identify Shooting Victim
Police have identified the victim of a shooting yesterday in La Crosse. Cops say 20 year-old Sara Hougom was killed at her home on Division street yesterday afternoon. Police say Hougom called 911 around four yesterday afternoon to report that she'd been shot. First responders worked on her in the apartment, got her to the hospital, where she later died of her wounds. POlice say the wounds do not appear to be self-inflicted and they continue to investigate the shooting with the help of several other agencies. No one in custody at this point. Police are also investigating a separate shooting on the northside that happened within minutes of the Hougom killing. In that shooting, someone pumped at least four bullets into a home on Island street, although no one was injured.

Two shootings that happened Monday afternoon are being investigated in La Crosse...
One shooting has left a 20-year-old woman dead. That happened in the 700 block of Division Street. The woman died at Mayo Franciscan in La Crosse. The other incident was on the north side of the city, Island Street, where someone apparently shot at a window. Nobody was hurt in that situation.
