Flipped Over.......Doing Ok
A Bristol man is recovering from a head wound he suffered Saturday night after rolling his truck in Vernon County.
Jerry Manta lost control of his truck on County Y in Rung Hollow......the truck ended up flipping over a guard rail and slid about 40 feet on it's roof before flipping over again.
He was wearing a seatbelt.
Kember is New Festmaster
Recently retired La Crosse School Superintendent Jerry Kember has something to keep him busy for the next year...
Kember is the new Festmaster for Oktoberfest in 2011, succeeding Ed Przytarski. Kember is a former music teacher and band director who retired as school superintendent a few months ago, after eight years in that post.

The new Mrs. Oktoberfest for this year has a little experience with La Crosse's fall festival...
Florence Aliesch has been involved with the fest for 13 years, including a term as president. But she wasn't expecting the news this June that she would be part of the Oktoberfest royalty. Aliesch, who works in communications at UW-L, was announced as the new Mrs. Oktoberfest Wednesday night at Cartwright Center. As Mrs. Oktoberfest, Aliesch will get to take part in activities that many fest volunteers do not...such as visits to schools and nursing homes.
Body Found In Onalaska Idenitified
The body found in Onalaska today has been identified as 29 year old Tomah resident Malcolm Forbes. Forbes was initially identified as missing by Green Bay Police and then on September 3rd the Tomah Police Department asked surrounding jurisdictions to be on the lookout for Forbes.
Onalaska Investigator Pete Jakowksi was following up at an apartment on Well Street which was the last location where Forbes was allegedly seen. When no one answered the door, Jakowski began checking the surrounding area. That’s when he located the body hanging in a wooded area next to the apartment complex. Forbes had been identified as missing endangered because of reports that he was despondent and possibly suicidal.
His body was transported by the Medical Examiner to Hastings Minnesota, where an autopsy will be performed to determine cause of death.
Unemployment Numbers Drop Across The Area
Unemployment numbers, locally, dropped across the board from last month.
The city of La Crosse's unemployment rate was 7.4%, down from 7.6% in July, and La Crosse County's rate was 6%, down from 6.2%.
The La Crosse metro area's unemployment rate in August was 6%, down from 6.2% in July.
