GOP Backs Off Vinehout Recall
Democratic State Senator, Kathleen Vinehout, has had a bullseye on her back ever since she and 13 others left the state back in February to protest a Republican plan to sharply curtail union rights for public employees. Vinehout says she is keeping her ears and eyes open.
Hearing Today on Bus Fare Increases
A public hearing on proposed fee increases for La Crosse's public bus service today.
The transit utility wants to boost all fares, senior citizens and disabled riders included. Proposed fare for a regular adult rider would be $1.50. Sheboygan's a little higher at $1.75 for regular bus fare. Other cities like Wausau and Fond du Lac are at $1.25. Oshkosh appears to be the lowest; bus ride there is still just a buck. Fare increase hearing is at 5:15 in city council chambers.

Democratic Minority Leader Peter Barca accused the GOP of ignoring the Assembly's tradition of not interrupting the other party's caucuses. After Republican Jeff Fitzgerald responded to Barca, someone in the audience then yelled an obscenity at Fitzgerald, and the speaker pro-tem had the gallery cleared.
