They ran, biked and walked through the cold and the rain but in the end the Festival Foods Fitness Festival held 2 weeks ago once once again a huge success.
Over 3300 people both locally and from around the country helped raise a quite a bit of money for 4 organizations this year...and they received their checks last night.
The Lacrosse Police Department Reserves received a grand........The Lacrosse Special Rec. Department received a check for $7000 as did the Youth Enrichment Association. The big winner....the St. Claire Health Mission....getting a check for 30 thousand.
Gospel Choir Equipment Stolen
You won't be hearing the The Coulee Region Gospel Choir anytime soon. The group's Sue Schultz says someone broke into a storage unit in Holmen and stole every piece of sound equipment they had. $9000 worth and some not all paid for yet. It was one of several storage unit break-ins reported in the past week.
Choir director Ruth Granum discovered the loss Tuesday when she went to the storage unit to retrieve some sheet music and found everything but the sheet music gone from the unit.

Council Approves Fire Department Hiring
By a nearly unanimous vote, the La Crosse city council has approved hiring several new firefighters. The council heard from many in a packed city council chambers Tuesday night. Mostly firefighters urged the council to agree to the new hires despite the mayor's objections, suggesting that emergency protection suffers without adequate protection. The vote does nothing to counteract the mayor's recent order to end overtime spending in the fire department.
Arrest For Sex Assault/Incest Dates Back To 1995
A 40-year-old resident of the town of Franklin in Jackson County has been arrested and is facing charges of first-degree sexual assalt, incest and false imprisonment. And the assaults may date back to 1995. Rodney Tollefson is being held in Jackson County pending a court appearance. Sheriff Duane Waldera says it all started in Sheboygan County.
A 19 year old woman had reported being sexually assaulted and molested and many of those alleged assaults occurred in Jackson County. Waldera says the assaults and molestation of the woman occurred over a number of years and at several locations within Jackson County as well as the Sheboygan County.
La Crosse Schools to Announce New Superintendent
The School District of La Crosse Board of Education will announce the new Superintendent of Schools at a press conference tomorrow, Wednesday, May 11th at 12:15p.m. The press conference will be held in the auditorium of the Hogan Administrative Center.
