Is Obamacare Coming Down?
Won't be pretty if the US Supreme Court takes down Obamacare. That's the evaluation from the Wisconsin Council on Children and Families. A new report from the group says Wisconsin has more to lose than many of the other 34 states that would lose federal health exchange insurance subsidies if the court finds those subsidies to be unconsitutional. That's because people getting insurance on the exchange take advantage of those subsidies more in Wisconsin than in many of the other states that haven't set up their own exchanges. About 180 thousand in the state get their insurance through the exchange. More than 90 percent get subsidies.
Debt Level Rises
When you have too much debt, ideally you'd do a little belt-tightening to pay it down. A report from the feds this week shows the federal government better have a pretty tight belt. National debt is expected to exceed a hundred percent of GDP in 25 years. Which is intolerable, says Bruce Zmolek, president of Firefighters Credit Union in La Crosse. But also probably not the whole story, just based on the current debt level. The report blames higher national debt on growing levels of entitlement spending on healthcare and a population that's getting older.
Over five thousand people in La Crosse took in the arts last weekend, at the city's second annual Artspire festival. Attendance was several hundred above the total for the first year, says Artspire chair Eva (EVE-uh) Marie Restel. While the focus of Artspire is on outdoor art displays and performances, Restel says some of the most popular live events happened on stage inside the Pump House. Restel says the second weekend of June has worked out well for Artspire, so next year's event is scheduled for June 10th and 11th.
Ledvina's District Shopping List

Joe Ledvina is the Building and Grounds supervisor and says this is routine every year at this time. Some of the projects, using referendum monies, includes adding classroom space to three elementary schools......energy efficiency district wide and creating a softball field for La Crosse Central High School.
