10% students also showed up high/drunk in past year

Three percent of Onalaska High School students admit to using meth within the past 30 days.

That state is part of the findings from a youth risk behavior survey given every two years.

Onalaska principal Jared Schaffner says the drug use is always something they key in on.

"It doesn't matter if you have one kid or many kids, indicating they've used heroin, meth or anything like that, it jumps out," he said.

Schaffner says habits change over the years. Use of E-Cigarettes has gone up significantly, while cigarettes have fallen off.

Other stats in the survey from the school include 10 percent of students admitting to showing up high or drunk in class in the past year. Also, 13 percent have admitted to taking a prescription drug without a doctor's prescription.
