Turkey day traffic will be up, as are gas prices

More cars predicted to be on road than in past 12 years

More people are heading home for Thanksgiving than in the last 12 years, according to AAA.

"Close to 51 million traveling at least 50 miles or more from home," Nick Jarmusz with AAA Wisconsin said. "A little more than 1 million right here in Wisconsin."

Traffic will peak Wednesday afternoon and be at its height again on Black Friday and throughout the rest of the weekend.

As for the price of gas, "We're up over last year, in some cases, $.40. close to $.50 over from last year," Jarmusz said. "But we're starting to come down from where we were earlier this month and that's a trend that we expect is going to continue."

As for the weather in the area, it couldn't be better. A very little chance of precipitation and almost no chance of it freezing. Daytime highs are expected to be above freezing now through the weekend. The nighttime lows will hover right around freezing.
