Consumer Protection warns of scam coming from "Consumer Protection"

Written by

A little irony comes with the latest scam warning from Wisconsin's Consumer Protection division.

The warning is about phishing emails, which isn't anything new.

The latest scam, however, referencing employees of the state's consumer protection division in the email.

You might get one listing a representative from consumer protection as the sender. There could be one with the department's email address in the subject line, or one that even looks like an actual address from a consumer protection employee.

None of which are real.

A representative from the office says if they're going to contact you, they'll do it through the mail. Not email.
