Inmates Washing Their Own Linens

Starting July 1st.....if you get locked up in Crawford County, you better know how much laundry detergent is used in a washing maching and when the rinse cycle is. Inmates will do their own laundry at the jail in Prairie Du Chien......and it could save the county about 7 grand a year. Right now they send the laundry out to a professional service. Just a cost savings measure says Sheriff Dale McCullick. The cost of the laundry has run from 500-to-700 dollars a month, depending on the jail’s population. Crawford County already has the washers-and-dryers for the job. McCullick says it’s nice to save money, and not have to cut any services.
