Shelby Considering Tunneling Under Highway

Town of Shelby could be sticking some serious money underground soon. In conjunction with a DOT re-do of highway 33, the town is preparing plans to help pedestrians get across the highway.

Shelby town administrator Jeff Brudos says the potential options include a pedestrian tunnel that would go underneath 33 at Hagen road. It's all talk at this point, but Brudos says the idea merits consideration. Estimated cost: five hundred to seven hundred thousand dollars.
