State Tax Collections Surge, But Lower Than Expected
Money going to Madison has increased significantly since last year.
Revenooers in the capital say tax collections for the fiscal year that ended in June were 6.4% higher than for 2010. Even though the actual tax money taken in was just slightly less than estimated. Sales and personal incomes taxes showed the biggest increases, together up around 800 million dollars from the year before. Corporate taxes were also up, but considerably less than expected. Cigarette taxes dropped by forty million year to year.
