Koopman Drug Plea

A second suspect in the drug death of a young woman pleads guilty to reckless homicide...

Cory Koopman of Sparta entered a negotiated plea in La Crosse County court this morning. Koopman admits to selling the heroin used by Shelby Perkins just before she died last year. Perkins's boyfriend, Mitchell Perner, is in prison now for his part in her overdose death.

Koopman could get up to 25 years behind bars for the homicide charge...but because he cooperated with prosecutors, the D-A's office may recommend just eight years of prison time when he is sentenced.
