College Grant Will Go Towards Health Care

Western Technical College will be able to give extra guidance todislocated workers transitioning into healthcare programs, thanks to money from arecent federal grant. The three-year $12.69 million grant was awarded to aconsortium of seven colleges in Iowa, Minnesota, and Wisconsin, including Westernand two other Wisconsin Technical Colleges. Sandra Schultz says the money will be put to good use immediately.

Western's $2.1 million share of the Bridges2Healthcare grant will be used to create pathways and bridges for student success as they enter the healthcare field. The college hopes that redesigned student services and developmental education made possible by the funds will lead to better retention and achievement rates.
