Osseo-Fairchild Changes School Nickname

The Chieftains are out..........the Thunder is in. Osseo-Fairchild High School has a new nickname now after the state ordered them to drop the indian nickname. Superintendent, Dennis Geissler (GEES-LER) says the process of getting a new name was open to the public. And many suggestions came in.

A state law adopted last year allows those offended by Indian team names to complain to the state Department of Public Instruction and if the DPI finds that the name is discriminatory, the affected school district has a year to come up with something else. Osseo-Fairchild was the first in the state ordered to chainge thier nickname.
