Soldiers Turn To Afghan Farming In 2012

2012 will bring a new challenge to some soldiers in the National Guard. Some will put down their weapons and pick up seeds and water buckets. Colonel Darrel Feucht (FOYT), says the skillls of a soldier and civilian will come into play now.

The mission is to help Afghan farmers become agriculturally self-sufficient and develop their agricultural marketplace. The practices that are being trained are not new concepts to the Afghan farmer, but tweaking existing practices.
