Shilling Votes In Favor Of School Restraint Bill

Wisconsin senators voted Tueaday to limit the ability of public school teachers and staff members to physically restrain or seclude unruly students. The measure was sent to the Assembly on a voice vote. La Crosse Senator, Jennifer Shilling, voted for the measure.

Advocates for special needs’ children pursued the bill, which bans certain types of restraints and allows other restraints and time outs to be ordered by trained personnel with positive reinforcements.
