Police Remain Tight Lipped On Shooting
The investigation into an officer related shooting in Sparta 2 weeks ago continues. In the meantime, the Department of Justice and Sparta Police remain tight lipped on where the investigation is.
Back on January 19th, police were responding to a 911 hang up call. When police arrived, they were greeted by 19 year old Jacob Olsen who was armed with a rifle. After officers, several times, ordered Olson to put the rifle down, he pointed it at Officer Booker Ferguson who then shot Olson. That sent him to Gunderson Lutheran with life threatening injuries. No update on Olson's condition was available.
Ferguson, a nine year veteran of the Sparta PD, remains on administrative leave as is customary when officers are involved in a shooting.
