Visitors from over 20 communities met with the heads of both the Wisconsin and Minnesota DOT in La Crosse on Thursday. The "High Speed Rail Summit" could lead to more meetings on the future of rail in the area, according to Jim Hill with the Empire Builder Coalition in La Crosse.

Hill would like to see railroad backers from La Crosse take the train to Red Wing for one of those meetings. Biggest drawback...there's only one westbound train through La Crosse every day, and it reaches Red Wing around 9 o'clock at night.
