Room Tax For Stadium Could Become Permanent

A LITTLE EXTRA MONEY COULD BE ON THE WAY TO THE LA CROSSE CENTER AND THE CITY VISITOR BUREAU IN A COUPLE OF YEARS...

THE C-V-B IS ASKING THE CITY COUNCIL TO KEEP A SPECIAL ONE PER CENT HOTEL ROOM TAX GOING BEYOND ITS PLANNED SUNSET DATE NEXT YEAR. THAT TAX RAISES 150-THOUSAND DOLLARS TO HELP PAY OFF CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW STADIUM AT U-W-L. UNDER THE NEW PLAN, IT WOULD GO TO THE C-V-B AND LA CROSSE CENTER, LIKE MOST OF THE ROOM TAX MONEY. CENTER BOSS ART FAHEY HAS NO PLANS FOR MONEY HE DOESN'T HAVE YET.

THE CENTER'S ANNUAL SHARE OF THAT ONE PER CENT TAX WOULD BE ABOUT 60-THOUSAND DOLLARS.
