Amendment to Ordinance Would Restrict Rentals in La Crosse Neighborhood

In the future, new multi-family rentals would be allowed in La Crosse's Washburn nieghborhood. But only with special permission. That's the essence of a new proposal that could be considered by the city council next month. Just trying to turn a corner in the predominately rental area, says Washburn neighborhood association president, Randy Magno, and encourage more single family homes like the homes that are getting built by the city currently in the neighborhood.

The idea to add single family restrictions in the neighborhood apparently was spurred by plans to turn the historic Nelson Allen house on 10th and King into a college rental.
