Two-City Garbage Committee Continues Work Today

When a joint-city garbage committee in La Crosse county finally makes their recommendations, at least they won't be accused of a lack of thoroughness. The Onalaska-La Crosse group meets today for yet another presentation on ideas for changing garbage service. This presentation coming from local waste haulers. La Crosse City councilman Doug Happel, on the committee, says the group's looking for best ideas from everywhere. That way, he says, all the interested parties can present their best information and the group can synthesize that mixture into best recommendations for city councils in both cities.

Still up in the air for Happel; whether to go to an automated garbage pick-up system and whether to make it a fee-based trash service.
