Student Helps Out In Haiti
A UW-LaCrosse student athlete returns from a trip to earthquake ravaged Haiti. Track and Cross Country runner Conner Lonning says conditions were grim. He immersed himself in their way of life staying in a tent with the locals with no blanket or pillow and ate the rations handed out by the Mexican Army. He handed out food to the Haitians and helped care for the children. A number of them have lost everything including their parents due to the earthquake. Conner noticed political red tape is slowing down progress. Still a lot of people living in tents and not much being done to clear the rubble and begin rebuilding the country.
