Sheriff, DA Want No More Shooting Questions For Now
The La Crosse County sheriff, the district attorney, and the Onalaska police chief met with reporters to talk about Monday night's shooting near West Salem. But they didn't take questions, because the investigation isn't finished yet, and they don't want to spread rumors. What the law enforcement leaders would say is that Keith Marchbanks is still in the hospital, under 24 hour guard. Marchbanks was shot by an Onalaska policeman when he came toward police with a large butcher knife. He's accused of injuring his wife Stefanie with that knife. And arson investigators are still looking into the fire that ruined the Marchbanks home that night. So, until charges are filed or there's a major change in the case, they have no more answers.
