Gas To Energy Underway In Onalaska

A gas to energy project with Gundersen Lutheran and La Crosse County allows gas from the landfill to be put to good use. Methane gas that was being burned off at the county landfill is captured and used, through a system of pipes, to heat the Gundersen Lutheran Onalaska Clinic and Support Services Building. And it is bringing big money to the area.

Corey Zirecki is Director of Envisions at Gunderson Lutheran. He says in the first two years of their Envision program, Gundersen was able to improve energy efficiency by 25 percent for a savings of $1.25 million annually.
