Opening Arguments Due Tuesday In Koula Trial

A jury is set for a double murder trial in La Crosse...

After the questioning of dozens of candidates, 15 jurors have been chosen for the Eric Koula trial. Opening statements will be made Tuesday morning, after which the jury will be taken to the Barre Mills home where Koula's parents were shot to death two years ago. Koula is suspected of killing his parents for money, but his defense team argues that the shootings appeared to be professionally done.

The Koula trial may become one of the longest murder trials ever in La Crosse County, scheduled to last four weeks. In June of 1994, James Frydenlund was tried for the beating deaths of his estranged wife and her parents. The case lasted nearly three weeks, and ended with Frydenlund being found 'not guilty.'
