Koula Denies Murders In First Day On Witness Stand

Eric Koula openly denies killing his parents...but he has admitted to other things at his La Crosse murder trial.

Koula was emotional on the stand Monday when he apologized for sending a threatening note to himself after the murders, to keep police from suspecting his teenage son.

Koula told defense attorney Keith Belzer that he didn't tell police about signing his father's name to a 50-thousand dollar check, because he didn't expect them to believe him.  Koula is charged with forgery for cashing that check.

Koula insists that he did shop at Bridgeview Plaza at about the same time his parents were shot on May 21st, 2010...even though security cameras do not show him at that location.
