Lax Still Aiming To Put Pay Stations In Ramps This Year

You could start paying for some parking spaces in La Crosse's downtown ramps before the end of the year.

The city's Parking Utility Board is still studying gate systems, that would require drivers to pay 50 cents an hour to park in reserved sections of the ramps. Bob Haines with the city Public Works department is looking at how other cities the size of La Crosse charge for parking in ramps:

Haines says his department is now working on connecting all the ramps to City Hall through fiber optic provide security video, and to remotely operate those traffic gates.
