Neighborhood Spokesman Wants Winter Parking Zone At UWL To End

The future of a 'park anywhere' zone during La Crosse winters is in limbo, pending a vote expected by the city council next month.

The public works department wants to end the three-year experiment, because many drivers have ignored alerts telling them to move their cars on certain nights so streets can be plowed.  UWL neighborhood resident Charley Weeth thinks it's time to end the special zone, too.  But university students are asking City Hall to continue the special zone. Drivers in the rest of La Crosse have to park on alternate sides overnight from November to the end of March.
