Obesity Rates Climbing Nationally
Wisconsinites may consume their weight in beer, brats and cheese every year, but the state is still middle of the pack in obesity rates in the US.
That's part of a new report from the CDC this week. Wisconsin's obesity rate is close to 28 percent. That ranks the state 25th in the nation. Lower than Iowa at 29 percent but higher than Minnesota at around 26 percent. Highest obesity rate is still in Mississippi, at 35 percent. But the south, in general, has higher rates than the rest of the nation. There are now 12 state with obesity rates that top thirty percent. Just seven years ago, there was only three.
