Tax Group Says Tax Growth Slowing Statewide
La Crosse still has one of the highest city property tax rate in the state among larger cities
. But that levy is increasing slower than most as well. La Crosse has the second highest mill rate at just over 12 dollars per thousand in property value. That's behind only Racine among the state's largest cities, according to the watchdog group, Wisconsin Taxpayers Alliance. But new property tax limits in the state have also resulted in La Crosse's rate only increasing by one percent this year from last. Only three of the larger cities in the state have a smaller, year-to-year increase. The city tax rate does not include schools or county property taxes.
